Great Classic Sailing Ships

Prins Willem was laid down in Zeeland (Middelburg)1649, and  launched 1.1 1650
She made maiden voyage 5.5 1651. She was largest East India vessel when built.
The ship dimensions were 181 x 45 x 18 Amsterdam feet.
Other sources says : 170 x 38 x 18 feet.
In june 1652 Prins Willem was loaned by de VOC,
together four their ships in war against England.
Orginally ship was Armed 32-guns, but in 1652-53 she was armed 42-56 guns.
After war Prins Willem returned to the owners, and made 17 round voyages,
which most of them between Zeeland and Batavia.
De Prins Willem was wrecked on isle of Brandon, near Mauritius,
on 10 or 11 february 1662 with all the crew.
