DENMARK-NORWAY

-

Dimensions are in danish feet (313,85 mm). The lenght is the maximum distance from
the fore side of the stem to the after side of the sternpost.
The beam was measured in three different ways. From 1650-1664 it was probably the maximum
breadth outside the planking. From 1664 to about 1690 it was the distance between the clamps of the lower deck.
(some 1,5 - 2,5 feet less than the maximum breadth.)This metod was used for all ships in existence
in 1686. After 1690 the beam was measured inside the planking.
Depth was measured from the upper side of the keel to the level of the upper side of the lower-deck beams
At the side. Between 1664-1690 the depth was taken to the top of the beam at the clamps.
About from 1690 the draught was measured in fore and stern to the ship.

SHIPS 1600-1649 (Hoveskibe/Mellem orlogsskibe) ( letter "s" means , that ship is measured by Swedens in warprize)
(Dimension which are meters are from book “Orlogsflådens skibe gennem 500 år”)

Notice : main sources for dimensions are Skibsregister, and List of men of war 1650-1700 part III and others are :

-Orlogsflådens skibe gennem 500 år (in the book dimension are in meters, and they are modified to Danish food, which correspond 314mm in book).
